Out of the slums of Communism to the Glories of Democracy

From pre-Revolutionary Romania to communist-ruled Cuba, my life’s journey has taken me many places. I was born in Benesti, Romania, as the ninth of twelve children. Early on in my childhood I felt a strong passion for traveling, but my desire was not satisfied until I was able to escape Benesti.

This book is my voyage from a remote village in the mountains of Transylvania during communist rule, to the difficult transition most immigrants face when emigrating to America. Eventually my childhood dreams would become realities as I would get the opportunity to travel the world.

From the slums of a third world to the glories of democracy, communism to capitalism, and tyranny to liberty: I ventured to a much better life, to freedom and opportunity. And though nothing came easy, I was able to find strength and courage to move forward, and hope for a brighter future.

This book was written as I traveled through four different continents. It’s simply humanity’s fight for liberty and the guiding faith that led me to finding my destiny. From inner city Chicago, to Tennessee, then Dallas and beyond, my family and I learned hard lessons, but we never lost our gratitude and faith in God or this country.

And our gratitude for the opportunities given, translated into our desire and moral obligation to share with others and to give back to the world in truly remarkable ways.
